Busy Bees and a Birthday Bash
May 4, 2025

March was a month of growth, celebration, and meaningful progress for the children and staff of B Loved Ethiopia.
To boost academic success, we launched a home tutoring program in Sodo and Bishoftu, led by dedicated teachers. Children showing academic improvement were joyfully recognized in front of family and community—building confidence and inspiring others to strive for more. Congratulations to Tesfanesh Omate, Mandefrot Yohanis, Tesfanesh Lalago, Natnael Tamirat, and Selamu Tamirat for their great efforts!
On the spiritual side, our children are actively attending church and engaging in devotions at home. March’s monthly life value was Trustworthiness, encouraging the kids to live with integrity and consistency.
One of the most emotional highlights was a surprise birthday celebration for our Grade 6 students in Sodo—many of whom had never celebrated a birthday before. The joy and emotion were overwhelming as the children realized the party was for them. One child, Tesfanesh Omate, shared in her journal, “I was longing to celebrate my birthday one day. But I did not know my birthday. This often created discomfort in my mind and heart. But when the Sodo project staff conducted a surprise birthday party on March 21/2025, I was so emotional and felt a special feeling of joy that I had never felt. Then, I considered and counted that day as one of the best special days in my life.”
Children in Bishoftu have also started physical training sessions with a local coach, discovering new ways to stay active and explore potential in athletics.
We’ve strengthened psychosocial support through weekly counseling in Sodo, and welcomed visits from Kidmia Association USA, government officials, and local stakeholders—building connections and affirming our mission.
In terms of sustainability, we’re excited to share that our beekeeping initiative is now producing honey! This project not only supports nutrition for the children but also creates a future path for income and resilience. In addition, our farm site is being re-prepared for vegetable planting, with support from agricultural experts to develop a thoughtful, seasonal planting plan.
Despite rising market inflation, we remain committed to resource efficiency and prioritizing what matters most—the well-being and future of every child in our care.
Thank you for standing with us in love and purpose. Your prayers, support, and encouragement make a lasting difference.
