From Fields to Futures

May 31, 2026

This past month at B Loved Ethiopia has been full of meaningful connection, growth, and progress across all areas of our work.

Our children continued receiving support through both individual and group counseling, as well as regular home visits from staff and caregivers. These consistent touchpoints are helping nurture emotional well-being and strengthen trust. Our Sodo team also spent special time visiting university students Bereket, Engida, and Lukas sharing a meal together and encouraging them in their continued journey.

We celebrated Easter together as a family! The older girls stepped into leadership roles by preparing traditional meals, while the younger children eagerly helped. It was a joyful day that reflected the strong sense of belonging we strive to create.

In Bishoftu, group counseling sessions focused on goal setting, alongside individual coaching which helped us identify additional needs and allowing us to better care for them holistically.

Our spaces also served the wider community this month. The Sodo center hosted regional basketball and volleyball competitions, with many teams utilizing our fields.

Ten of our older Bishoftu children participated in a community awareness event hosted in partnership with local organizations. This opportunity allowed them to step into advocacy roles, connect with others, and enjoy a day of recognition and celebration.

We also invested in our staff through a five-day capacity-building training in Sodo, focused on modernizing child protection systems through digital tools. This training marks an important step toward greater transparency and efficiency in how we care for children.

Progress continues at our Bishoftu Holistic Center, with dormitory construction advancing steadily. Government leaders visited this month and encouraged the continued impact of this work.

Our sustainability efforts are also thriving. Our dairy farms produced over 6,000 liters of milk, supporting both our children’s nutrition and local markets. Meanwhile, our horticulture programs in Bishoftu and Sodo are providing fresh vegetables and expanding future yields through thoughtful planting strategies.

We are grateful for the continued growth, collaboration, and moments of joy experienced this month. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
