From Graduation to Fun Gatherings
August 1, 2025

July was a month filled with milestones, community engagement, and encouragement for the children of B Loved Ethiopia. Despite challenges like market inflation and frequent power outages, the love and support surrounding our children continued to shine. Here are some of the highlights:
- Education: Our school year officially came to an end. While final exam results are still pending for grades 6, 8, and 12, children in Sodo attended summer language classes at Ethio-Canada Academy. Four children (Gadisa, Yerosen, Surafel, and Kiruble) graduated from kindergarten and celebrated with a joyful ceremony before moving up to first grade!
- Health & Care: Regular support of food, clothing, and shelter continued for all children. Several received medical care this month, including Maru, who successfully underwent surgery and is now recovering well.
- Spiritual & Emotional Growth: Children continued attending church, home devotions, and group discussions. Three Sodo high school students enjoyed special experiences like hiking Mount Damota, while all children received support from staff, volunteers, and the visiting U.S. mission team.
- Mission Team Visit: Dave and the mission team joined the children this month, visiting all three project sites. Their time together was filled with activities, worship, and family connection, strengthening the bonds of love and belonging.
- Summer Activities: In Sodo, the annual summer camp was launched with the help of community volunteers. Children enjoyed life skills training, games, crafts, and soccer at the center. The B Loved Public Library also remained active, serving 78 community members who borrowed and studied over 100 books.
- Partnerships & Oversight: The Sodo project welcomed supervisors from the Federal Civil Society office, who reviewed operations and praised the quality of our services and reporting.
- Farms & Food Support: Our dairy farms in Sodo and Bishoftu continued producing milk for the children and for sale in the community. The poultry farm has become a strong source of sustainable income, and new agricultural initiatives including vegetable seedlings and Teff cultivation were launched to support the children’s nutrition.
- Staff Support: Guards and cleaning staff in Sodo received new uniforms and shoes, helping them serve with dignity and strength 😊
Through it all, B Loved Ethiopia remains steadfast in providing holistic care through educational, medical, physical, emotional, and spiritual support for each child. We are grateful for your partnership in making this possible.
