Making a Splash!

March 31, 2026

This past month was a meaningful one of progress and care across B Loved Ethiopia’s centers in Sodo and Bishoftu. From improved living conditions to strengthened emotional and spiritual support, the focus remained on nurturing each child holistically.

All group homes in Sodo received new mattresses, creating a cleaner, healthier environment for the children. Alongside physical improvements, spiritual life continues to be a cornerstone of care.

Emotional and social well-being were also prioritized through counseling, home visits, and engaging daily activities. Children participated in responsibilities like cooking and cleaning, as well as games and group activities that build confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging.

The kids have splashed and laughed in the pool, which is always a sweet reminder of how important these simple, joy-filled moments are.

A special visit from the head office team brought both joy and connection, with a day of shared meals and fun for the children, alongside productive meetings with staff to strengthen operations. Additional collaboration included a visit to the Kidmia Transition Center.

In Bishoftu, a new girls’ group home was successfully established, creating a more supportive living arrangement. Meanwhile, Sodo saw important infrastructure and security upgrades, ensuring a safer environment for both children and staff.

The organization welcomed a new child into care following a difficult loss, and also hired a much-needed housemother to better support the boys’ home.

Beyond residential care, B Loved’s community impact continues to grow. The Sodo library remains a vibrant hub, construction progresses steadily on the Bishoftu Empowerment Center, and income-generating projects like dairy and poultry farming are helping sustain operations while providing food and resources for the children.

Despite some challenges, the team remains committed to wise resource management and continued growth.

As we look ahead, the heart remains the same: to care for each child fully - not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. And to keep showing up, day after day, in all the ways that matter most.
