Standing Together

June 7, 2020

B Loved is still working hard to protect the children, staff and colleagues from the Corona Virus that is still affecting the world.

The risk of exposure to COVID-19 has continued to weigh heavily on people nationally. We are extra mindful that this kind of psychological influence may have an impact on the B Loved children who have been staying at home for more than two months now. Continual psychological support has been provided to the kids. We are currently offering this support in many ways, including:

  • Providing clear information about the challenges of COVID-19 and the facts that all the world is facing
  • Assigning one evangelist to teach Bible for our Addis kids two days a week. (Friday for Girls and Saturday for boys)
  • Competitions, physical exercises and drawings
  • Group home follow up and encouraging the kids to use their time wisely
  • Watching movies that contain good lessons and make the kids relax at the group homes
  • Playing football and having fun with the kids at group homes
  • Playing musical instruments and telling bible stories at the group homes
  • Helping children to show their talents like drawing pictures and other creative activities
  • Conducting a participatory discussion and providing advice to the kids
  • Providing items that help to do creative works and admiring what they create with the available resources

It is clear the kids are healthy, joyful, logical, reasonable, supportive, creative, and confident despite all the challenges.

Since the kids are not attending school, they have been provided handouts and home assignments. The head office staff (Wondie) and the social workers receive the materials from the schools and provide them to the kids to complete at home.

To reduce the group home moms’ burden, we decided to return aunts to work three days a week. The Project staff held a short meeting with the aunties at the center for 2 hours to provide orientation on preventive measures to take while visiting and staying at group homes during this difficult time.

We want to recognize the donors and the continuous support, prayers, and financial contributions.

We appreciate you standing with us in this hard time.
